Riders line up for Megatron ~ 2018 Rocky MTB Giant Enduro round 1

Race Summary

Wow! What a great opening round of the 2018 Giant CQ Enduro race season, with huge numbers, perfect weather, and the best riders Rocky and Gladstone has to offer battling it out on First Turkey’s trails.

The weather looked troublesome earlier in the week but in the end behaved well, scattering enough rain to give us hero dirt for the event, with a nicely overcast sky on race day to make those transition climbs more bearable.

Rider turnout was epic, breaking more records with 58 riders on the start line – over 50% up on our best CQ race day last year. And just like last week’s XC 3 hour, the juniors were out in force which is always fantastic to see.

The only hiccup on the day was a delay in finalising race times for some of the categories, so we were only able to do two of the podium presentations. However, the times are now up and you can see the results below.

Congratulations to the winners and huge thanks to all the riders who took part and all the club volunteers who helped make today’s event possible.

  1. hey rocky mtb. I had a flat tire on Megatron but MY strava times add up and say I would have finished 5th instead of 10th. if you are able to fix it up can you please do so.

    1. Hi Ethan. We just use the proper race timers for timing events. That way everyone is measured correctly. Strava isn’t accurate enough for measuring races. It might measure a segment as a certain time but the segment is unlikely to cover the exact start and finish of the race. Also Strava times are variable depending on the device used, service provider etc. This is why a lot of KOMs are achieved using Strava phone apps instead of a Garmin or Wahoo, as the apps don’t send signals as rapidly as a proper GPS computer. That’s why we use race timer software for everyone so it’s consistent and fair.

  2. hey ill be racing juniors in the rnd1 gravity enduro , will there be tough competition
