Hi and welcome to Rockhampton Mountain Bike Club‘s website. Thanks for taking the time to check us out.
Special thanks also to Allan Reinikka Photography for the great action shots of local races he’s provided for our groovy new site.
OK, so let’s talk mountain biking. If you’re looking for somewhere to ride around Rockhampton, we have two main trail networks.
First Turkey is the home of MTB in Rocky and is open all day everyday except when Mother Nature has other ideas.
We also have trails at Seeonee Park which we share with the Scouts. Seeonee has restricted access hours to Rocky MTB members only.
Most Saturday and Sunday mornings you’ll find plenty of people riding at First Turkey. Rock up and have a lap. It won’t be long before you bump into someone to ride with or to point out the type of trails you’re looking for.
Organised social rides occur throughout the year and are advertised here.
The Club runs a number of mountain bike races throughout the year. We offer cross country (XC), gravity enduro (GE) and an annual 6 hour race.
Don’t worry if you’ve never raced before. There are categories for everyone from junior and novice through to expert. Our 6 hour race also has a team format so you can share the pain with your friends!
The big news in 2017 is that Rockhampton will be hosting Round 4 of the National Gravity Enduro Series on 8 – 9 July this year, and the best of the nation are heading to town.
Also, our trail network at First Turkey is set to double in 2017 and the new trails won’t disappoint! Rocky MTB and Rockhampton Regional Council were successful in gaining $500 000 in funding through regional grants – your Club is hard at work for you. Trailworx are digging furiously and the new trails are rolling out. As new trails open we’ll keep you posted.
Please consider becoming a member of Rocky MTB. Membership benefits are many, not least personal insurance, but just as importantly your membership dollars are ploughed back into building new trails and progressing the sport in Central Queensland.
Aside from riding your bike we have regular dig days to maintain our trails and put back into the reserve, so consider joining up.
Now get out on your bike and ride! 🙂
